ABSTRACT
Despite the numerous challenges Detroit faces, it is a legacy city with a rich historical heritage, an excellent location, and many significant assets. Geography favors Detroit. The Great Lakes international waterways make it accessible. The city has extensive highway and rail systems enabling it to be a gateway not only to the Midwest but also throughout the United States. A major international airport, the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, located in a nearby suburb, affords excellent domestic and overseas connections.
