ABSTRACT

Design, understood as including planning and policy-making, is involved in most human activities aimed at the future and will be needed in dealing with the challenges facing humanity. This calls for design education not only for professionals, but also for the general public that will have to participate in these processes. Examination of obstacles and problems involved in achieving improved design education suggests that a first needed step for this enormous task will be the development of a coherent strategy and participatory discourse platform. A prototype form of planning discourse is proposed to discuss and develop a preliminary strategy.
