Professor Sidney Hook's essay on the Knox-Pelczynski edition of Hegel's Political Writings pinpoints most of the issues crucial to any discussion of Hegel's political thinking. It is not, however, free from some of the misconceptions which have bedeviled this discussion in the past two generations.
