ABSTRACT
For a thorough knowledge of the state of hazardous waste crime in the U.S., it is essential to determine what circumstances have led to our present catastrophic environmental conditions. Hazardous wastes have been produced as manufacturing by-products for many years. But the improper dumping of these materials has only recently been interpreted as so grave a threat as to warrant criminal investigation and prosecution on a wide scale.
