ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the meaning of "entrepreneurship" with college business students who had not been previously exposed to entrepreneurship education. In general, the focus of entrepreneurship education curricula has been on the importance of entrepreneurial skill development and the processes associated with new venture creation. Entrepreneurship education would benefit from the inclusion of exposure to successful venture creation role models in its curriculum. It is vital that individuals seeking to develop skills useful in business formation have a framework in which to apply the new knowledge being sought. Narrative exposure to successful entrepreneur role models might be a very beneficial first step in this development. Entrepreneurship education researchers have seldom explored specific educational media in depth. Education research could benefit from qualitative inquiries with student samples in order to gain a clearer picture of effective teaching tools. The wealth of information provided in the collected data provides valuable insights for entrepreneurship educators.
