To be completely candid, I should start by disclosing that I came to the law only after I failed as a journalist. Back in the late 1950s, I saw myself as part of the “hard, tough, often cynical lot, filled with savage humor and the wisdom of the streets” that Pete Hamill describes in the spring 1997 Media Studies Journal.
