ABSTRACT
Courtship is perhaps m ore com plex and m ore diverse am ong birds than in any other group. Y et they are rather un iform in their repro ductive habits. T he large m ajority build nests w ith in defended regions and show considerable parental care. All have internal in sem ination and all lay eggs. O bviously diversity in courtship cannot be attributed to the presence or absence o f these features.
