At the end of this chapter readers will be able to:

explain the ways in which sport is both different from, and similar to, the world of business, and what its special features mean for effective financial management of sport enterprises

describe sport's commercial transformation and the implications this has for the proper financial management of clubs, agencies, associations and leagues

distinguish between funding arrangements that focus on capital works, and those funding arrangements that are geared to operational issues

understand the ways in which sport can be organized to attract more funds and increase its attractiveness to members, fans and end users of the sports service.
