ABSTRACT

Newton’s laws of motion, dating back to the 17th century, outline how movement depends upon effective force application and, therefore, the ability to apply force is crucial to much sports performance. Increasing force capacity as it relates to the tasks involved in sport should be fundamental to any performance programme. This chapter provides a pathway via which force can be developed, not as an end in itself, but instead as a key component in enhancing actual performance – what can be considered gameforce.
