ABSTRACT

How much do we really know and how many key factors are we currently missing? This chapter considers the complex nature of performance and whether our current systems of generating information are suited to this complex world. It suggests that this current isolated approach is generating a knowledge illusion, blinding us to factors that have the potential to significantly enhance coaching practice. It argues that a more balanced perspective, blending the potential benefits of a multidisciplinary approach, is better suited to generating effective information in strength and conditioning.
