ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the case study. The aim of this case study analysis was to consider how a narrative analysis might provide insight into the meanings and effects of disclosures through the stories told in interviews because of its attention to absences, disruption and inconsistencies. But this chapter, focus on just one case Rahmatullah and his family an Urdu-speaking Muslim family living in a city of several million people. Because their interviews can illuminate the performative nature of disclosure in narratives of everyday life. The overall aim of the Family Lives and Environment study is to improve understanding of the negotiated complexity of families lives in relationship with their environments, with regard to meanings of environment in every-day family lives and family practices. Participants are not merely passive respondents, but are also competent actors, revealing their everyday lives by telling the stories they wish to be told, in response and even in resistance to the interviewers objectives and questioning.
