ABSTRACT
The law concerning parenting issues after separation has for a long time been a key policy area in the Scandinavian countries. 1 Over the last decades there have been frequent and sometimes signifi cant legislative initiatives to encourage ‘equal parenting’. This is to a large extent visualised as being achieved through joint parental responsibility for parents who are no longer living together.
