ABSTRACT

In the paper, verification criteria for glass members in pure compression or bending are firstly recalled from a previous contribution (Amadio & Bedon 2012). Based on non-linear static incremental simulations performed in ABAQUS/Standard on geometrically imperfect monolithic glass beam-columns subjected to eccentric compressive loads, their typical response is assessed. The effects of initial imperfections of various shapes are also numerically investigated. Finally, a non-dimensional nonlinear interaction curve, is proposed as resistant domain for imperfect monolithic beam-columns eccentrically compressed. As shown, based on equivalent thickness approaches available in literature (Amadio & Bedon 2012), the same interaction domain could be used also for the verification of laminated glass beam-columns.
