ABSTRACT

A great deal has been written about entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship, leaders and leadership, and managers and management. The points are often valid—they are certainly not wrong—and they provide valuable insights. Our concern is that by treating the roles and contributions as separate themes, which we typically do, our thinking becomes narrower than it needs to be. We have concluded that in the ‘new normal’ world, attention needs to be focused on the entire person and their total contribution rather than whether they fit particular roles or can improve as a leader or manager. Here we outline and review some key aspects of the conventional wisdom.
