ABSTRACT

Unless you know it’s there, you have to look carefully to find the school nestled in this lovely tree-lined street in the affluent suburban Boston neighborhood of Chestnut Hill. Most of Brimmer and May’s small, irregular-sized classrooms are located in three stately Victorian houses that look no different from neighboring residences. Even the trim playing field looks more like a park than a school. Only the two newer buildings, with their tall, sweeping roofs, suggest something slightly out of place. A modest campus, by either public or private school standards, yet it is home to a very ambitious and exciting educational endeavor.
