ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to describe, analyse and explain the accession negotiations with respect to agriculture. A step-by step description of the negotiation process will enable us to understand the influence of domestic pressure (mainly public opinion, interest groups and political parties) on the negotiation process. This will help us to understand why the negotiations on agriculture were so important domestically. I will first briefly examine the nature of the CAP system and the impact that CAP might have had on Central and Eastern European agriculture.
