TAEUBER, IRENE BARNES (1906-1974) U.S. demographer. Born 25 December 1906 in Meadville, Mo., to Lilly Keller and N. C. Barnes. Educated University of Missouri (A.B., 1927); Northwestern University (M .A., 1928); Univer sity of Michigan (Ph.D., 1931). Married Conrad Taeuber (26July 1929). Two sons. Professional experience: Office of Population Re search, Princeton University, researcher (1936-1961), senior re search demographer and professor (1962-retirement). Honors and memberships: American Sociological Association, Fellow; American Statistical Association, president; Population Association of America, vice-president; U.N. World Population Conference (1966); Smith College, honorary LL.D. (1960); Western College for Women, honorary D.Sc. (1965). Died 24 February 1974 of complications from emphysema.
