ABSTRACT
Three levels of higher education institutions fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education: junior colleges, senior colleges and universities, and graduate and professional schools. The junior college programs of study are two years in length with the exception of the fishery/ marine colleges, which offer an additional six-month course for navigation practice, and the nursing program which is three years in length. The senior colleges and universities are classified into five categories: colleges and universities, teachers colleges, air and correspondence university, open colleges, and miscellaneous schools.
