ABSTRACT

In Taiwan, higher education refers to education provided by colleges, universities, and junior colleges. All colleges and universities offer four-year undergraduate programs leading to a bachelor's degree. Most also offer master's programs, and some offer doctoral degree programs. Junior colleges are comprised of three kinds of institutions: the two-year junior colleges, which admit vocational high school graduates; the three-year junior colleges, which admit both academic and vocational high school graduates; and the five-year junior colleges, which admit junior high school graduates. Students at junior colleges receive a diploma, instead of an academic degree, upon graduation.
