Being and having

The fact that human beings have both essence and existence, or mind/self within the body, has a major implication: they have the need both to be and to have. This chapter focuses on learning as a specific and basic example of this dichotomy. The first section explores the distinction between being and having, the second concentrates on being, having, and learning, and the third illustrates the discussion with special reference to education.
