ABSTRACT

One of the founding members of the Feminist Art Program established by Judy Chicago at Fresno State College in 1970, Suzanne Lacy was born in 1945 in Wasco, California. While criss-crossing the globe as an internationally recognized performance artist, Lacy continues to draw inspiration from her small town working class roots, creating conceptually elegant and socially provocative art “events” that work to empower and raise awareness among social groups outside the traditional centers of power.
