Health Transitions and Environmental Change in Contemporary Africa

The themes of African environmental history—attempts to manage, control and regulate resources, and the conflicts often associated with these efforts; features of local understandings of the environment and how these relate to socioeconomic, demographic, and environmental changes; and failures of technological interventions intended to manage or control the environment ¹ —are all apparent in an examination of the impact of environmental change on health in Africa.
