ABSTRACT

The Easter holiday in 2010 took up the first two weeks of April. Also in that month, a volcano erupted in Iceland sending an ash cloud into the skies over Europe. All flights were suspended, which meant that I, along with thousands of others, was unable to return to the UK for a further week. Thus my time in school in April was very short indeed. In the first section of this chapter, I will look at building a partnership with parents and also briefly discuss ‘wet play’. In the environment section I will look at ICT and music provision. There are just a few activities described in the diary section. These reflect the start of spring, the response to the volcanic events and the further development of writing.
