ABSTRACT

In this final chapter you will have the opportunity to practice reading F and A transposing instruments. The most common F instrument is the French horn, although English horns and basset horns are also frequently in F. These instruments sound a perfect fifth lower than the notated pitch. Instruments that sound a minor third lower than concert pitch (A instruments) include the A clarinet, A trumpet, and the oboe d’amore. Of these the A clarinet is the most common.
