ABSTRACT

Now that you are used to reading three parts including the tenor, learning to play the tenor in more challenging contexts is the next step. In Chapter 6 all three parts (SAT) used the treble clef with an octave transposition for the tenor part, but with the addition of a bass part, you must now sort out treble and bass clefs. An additional difficulty is that you will have to play the tenor and another part in the same hand. Previously you had played the women’s parts (both of which shared the same clef) in your RH, and the transposing tenor part in the LH as shown in Ex. 7.1 . Putting different clefs in the same hand will present a new challenge.
