ABSTRACT

This project was developed originally in German by Langley Park School for Girls and was originally offered as a six-week enrichment activity after-school club between 2006 and 2009. Due to its success, it became a fixed part of the curriculum for all Year Sevens from September 2009. Essentially students follow a ten-week Licence to Cook Scheme where they learn practical cookery skills through the medium of German and French. The project Recipes for MFL success! received a European Award for languages in 2010 as well as, in the same year, the Mary Glasgow Language Trust Award for the best overall project and the German Embassy Language prize for the best project involving German. The version of the project presented in this chapter is in German, whilst some recipes and additional language activities are included in French on the accompanying DVD.
