ABSTRACT

Typically, employers embrace testing for several reasons: identifying capable applicants; enhancing the productivity of their workforce; minimizing error, waste, and accidents; complying with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) regulations; and minimizing staffi ng costs. Once employers have decided that formal selection procedures will be useful, they then must determine what measures best meet the organization’s needs. This chapter reviews the decisions that must be made in choosing the selection procedure and identifying the criteria that must be considered, as well as the potential ramifi cations of those decisions.
