ABSTRACT
Anyone who intends to undertake a research project must address the following question early in the planning phase: What should be regarded as evidence of the phenomenon being researched? Experienced researchers have usually developed habits of using certain techniques with which they are most familiar and comfortable. So the aforementioned question is not one they typically deal with in an explicit manner; rather, the use of their chosen techniques guides the nature of their evidence.
