ABSTRACT
Although it usually is only a professional issue, the ethical behavior of journalists came back into the national spotlight recently when William Kennedy Smith was arrested — he was later found not guilty — on a charge of sexual assault at his family’s estate in Palm Beach, Florida. The name of Patricia Joyce Bowman, the woman involved in the alleged sexual assault — Florida’s term for rape — was published in several newspapers and aired on a television network shortly after the alleged incident occurred.
