ABSTRACT

When Frances Cerra was a reporter covering Long Island for The New York Times, she believed the billion dollar investment in the construction of a Long Island nuclear power plant was a matter of public concern. She began writing investigative reports about construction delays and cost overruns that might amount to hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars. Her editors at The Times disagreed with her and took her off the story. Unhappy with being second-guessed and reassigned, Cerra left the newspaper.
