chapter  8
Korean Women and Korean organizational culture
Pages 18

Korean corporate culture is instrumental in defining the journey Korean women and men must take to navigate the career ladder and succeed as managers. For men, this ladder is a part of their socialization from an early age. Women must usually learn this path to success later in life, often not until they embark on their first job, and traversing the path is strange, different, hidden, and difficult. Thus, bringing more women into management requires changes by all the stakeholders-the women themselves, the culture and structure of the organizations that employ them, and government policies as well as male and societal attitudes.
