ABSTRACT

For the conservative, education is one of the most important means of introducing the child or young person to the interlocking forms of culture in that person's society. Education is, in essence, a parental responsibility, though one largely discharged through delegation to schools and colleges. Through education a child or young person, in so far as he or she is capable, is introduced to characteristic forms of thinking and enquiry, to distinct disciplines with standards of excellence and established bodies of knowledge.
