ABSTRACT
The term 'family' has two distinct meanings: (i) a system of kinship arrangements among people related by blood and marriage and living (for some part of their lives) in a common household; (ii) blood relations as such, conceived as linking generations through the inclusion of individuals through either maternity or paternity.
