ABSTRACT
From a theoretical perspective, it is clear from what we have written in this book that, for us, the most important theoretical aspects of feminist gender and language research have been influenced by the developments most commonly associated with Third Wave feminism. Additionally, the recent resurgence in feminist thinking within popular culture in Western societies and the emergence and continuation of different waves of feminism in countries all over the world have demonstrated the importance of the underlying principle of the over whelming need for political action to be the basis of all academic research on language, gender and feminism.
