ABSTRACT
I will look at (b) in Chapter 7 and (c) in Chapter 10. But first I’ll say something about pleasure, picking up from points in Chapter 3 about our religious legacy. Over the last two centuries, for many of us, Christianity has been turned on its head. What had been the only true reality – the soul’s blissful life in heaven – has now become illusion. What had been deceptive – enjoying the one life we have – is the only actuality.
