ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses assessment in transnational higher education (TNHE) and its impact on the engagement and retention of students. While the features of student engagement, retention and assessment discussed in the other contributions in this book apply in TNHE, the perspective explored in this chapter is that curriculum and assessment are intertwined and need adequate attention in TNHE so that they reflect the offshore situation and student cohort. The underpinning approach is that to engage students, studies must be relevant to students’ lives and future aspirations.
