ABSTRACT

Practitioners and researchers continue to expand the scope and relevance of EFT to couple therapy . Grounded in a humanistic tradition, the practice of EFT represents a discovery-oriented tradition steeped in experiential learning that values the inherent strengths and resources that individuals possess . The cases summarized in this volume illustrate the ongoing lessons learned by therapists working with the everyday challenges found among their couples . This chapter reviews key themes and interventions that comprise the innovative practices explored in this casebook . Several common themes are explored in this review . These include the EFT therapist’s work with complex cycles, adult attachment and caregiving, and an unchanging focus, even in the face of diverse couples and problems, on attachment affect, therapeutic process, and the present moment .
