ABSTRACT

The strategic development, organisation and use of powers is a fundamentally educational matter. Drawing out, arranging, combining and setting into motion powers for the formation of communities, societies, worlds: that is the highest matter for education. The radical move for the education of powers is thus to form new associations and categorisations that enable innovative forms of action based on discourses of openness, equality and inclusivity that are capable of undermining restrictive discourses. In the spirit of a Spinozan logic, to the extent that education assumes a diverse community of intelligences, each directed towards developing their individual powers to the greatest potential, then that potential is further enhanced if each individual is able to aggregate their powers with others for mutual benefit. In terms of reified power, a particular individual, group or class occupies the place of power through the systematic intensification and aggregation of powers into vertically constructed Power.
