ABSTRACT

This chapter describes i) the need to equip students with profound, multiple and/or severe learning difficulties with the communicational tools to express their views on matters affecting their health and education, ii) how pupil consultation and research projects have informed and enhanced curriculum resources, and iii) how student voice projects have extended beyond the school building to raise awareness and challenge stereotypes within their local, national and international communities. How to Use this Chapter

This chapter focuses on creative approaches to developing pupil voice at two levels, within and beyond the school. It will be relevant to any professional grappling with how to promote pupil voice work with pupils with special needs and/or those students who need a great deal of support in expressing their views.
