ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION The internal market will always be topical, as the EU is based upon a customs union; therefore, the problems encountered with the reality of such an organisation will go in and out of fashion. At the moment, the main questions are on the legal implications leading up to the completion of the internal market, the important cases on the freedoms associated with the Community and the Maastricht Treaty. The Treaty of Amsterdam and the introduction of a single currency outline the next stage in the development of the Community.
