ABSTRACT
In Ireland, Section 11(i) of the Interpretation Act 1937 provides that ‘references to a person in relation to an offence (whether punishable on indictment or on summary conviction) shall, unless the contrary intention appears, be construed as including references to a body corporate’. This section enables the prosecution of a company for any crime that could be committed by a natural person.
