ABSTRACT
Although the Spanish legal system does not recognise criminal liability of legal persons per se, legal entities can be held jointly and severally liable for fines imposed on their managers who are convicted of offences occurring during the course of carrying out the legal person’s business. In criminal proceedings, moreover, legal persons can also be held civilly liable for damages caused by the criminal behaviour.1
