ABSTRACT

The Vikings were highly skilled jewellers, and used glass, amber, bone and metal to make items such as bracelets, brooches, buckles and beads. These were not worn to be fashionable, but to show wealth and status, or to be purely functional. Most people wore a brooch to pin their cloak around their shoulders. https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780203819548/7003a071-4fb6-4040-ba15-be8652b99178/content/fig34.tif"/> https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780203819548/7003a071-4fb6-4040-ba15-be8652b99178/content/fig35.tif"/>
