ABSTRACT
The halogens form ionic bonds when combined with metal atoms, since they are extreme-
ly electronegative. A l l of the halogens are diatomic, meaning they are so eager to form bonds that they wil l pair up with another atom of their own kind in the absence of anything else available. For this reason, it is impossible to find any halogen as an individual atom.
