ABSTRACT
Rabies is an acute and almost always fatal viral disease that strikes the nervous system, causing coma, paralysis, and usually death. It is most commonly spread to a human by the bite of a rabid dog, but it can also be transmitted by the bite of any rabies-infected animal, domestic or wild. Immunization is possible, and almost always prevents the disease i f it is given within two days after a person is bitten.
