Drawing parents, governors and others into the work of assistants
The questions sought to find out how much parents knew about what assistants d id and also what they thought about this currently and their ideas for the future. The sample included parents who did not have a child on the register of special needs as well as some who did. The research team was mindful of the fact that all parents should develop a better idea of what assistants did, as any student might, at some time, be supported by an assistant as well as by a teacher. This work with parents has been the most recent part of the Moorside team's research and they are currently analysing the results of their inquiry. in order to take any necessary actions. Examples of responses to the parents' questionnaire can be found on the website.
