Part Three The Method of Physical Action in Rehearsal
Students at the Studio began to work on plays towards the end of the second year.
The object of the rehearsal classes was to establish a method of work that would apply to plays of all kinds, both contemporary and classic. The plays which the students worked on included texts by Ostrovski and Shakespeare. The function of the directors and indeed of Stanislavski himself at the Studio during the third year was to guide students towards creating a role through analysis, questioning, challenge and encouragement.
