IISS Military Balance estimates at least one Shahab-3

missile battalion, which would normally consist of

6 launchers and 24 missiles in the field, with addi-

tional missiles in reserve. Other public sources give

higher numbers. In any event, additional Shahab-3

forces are likely to be deployed as Iran completes

research and development on its improved version.
