ABSTRACT

This book set out to address a simple question: what are the implications of climate change over the next few decades for global security and international relations? It is clear that unmitigated climate change will be nothing less than disastrous for the global community. Without sharp and early reductions in emissions of greenhouse gases, the world will face profound disruption, human tragedy, and unforeseeable political, social and cultural consequences beginning in the second half of the twenty-first century, posing a threat to the liberal order.
