ABSTRACT

When designing outdoor play areas there are numerous things to consider for achieving maximum safety. These include simple things like making sure there is enough shade so that children can play out of direct sunlight and that the area can be clearly seen from other areas of the child care facility to assist with supervision. The play areas should be enclosed with childproof fencing to guard against stray dogs entering the area and to prevent the children from wandering out into the local neighbourhood and onto roads.
